You could do worse than the Masters' level course offered by the University of Catania, Sicily, Italy.

You will need to have completed a previous university undergraduate course in a related subject, such as agriculture, environmental sciences, geography, botany, horticulture, etc.

You'll need to cough up something like 2500 euros for this 12 month course.

There is no guarantee that the Master's degree will be accepted back in your home country by relevant professional bodies; it probably isn't an accredited course by the Landscape Institute in Britain, for instance.

BUT, it will be a quite good and relevant qualification if you want to work in places like southern Spain, sorting out the gardens of wealthy and retired British ex-pats, for instance.

A nice aspect to the Catania University degree is that not only is it conducted entirely in English, but the partners running the course come from all over the Med: From Morocco, Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia. That's a lot of experience and different landscapes to draw upon.

Course starts in November apply by early October. Learn more.
