Fasting is very important for muslims as it depicts their faith in allah being hungry and thirsty for him.but along with fasting, have-nots should be given charity etc. Without helping the have-nots, just fasting will not be appreciated. This is to the best of my knowledge. May god forgive if i have made any mistake unknowingly.
