Fiona Apple was born on September 13, 1977 in New York, New York. She is a popular American singer. She is also a well-known song writer.

Fiona Apple was born into a family that had a very strong background in the entertainment business. So, right from the start, she learned what it was like to be a star.

Her album titled, Tidal (1996) has been considered to be multiple-platinum because of the unique style of the piano-playing.  Her attitude towards the public recognition became her hallmark after the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards when she gave her acceptance speech for the Best New Artist award. She hinted that she felt that accepting the award was a sellout to all that is superficial in the music industry. Her latest album is titled,  Extraordinary Machine (2005).

Fiona plans on continuing to record albums and will probably win more awards for her great work in singing.
