It was the venue at which France achieved the biggest win of its soccer history, namely the 3-0 win over the then defending champions Brazil. This came in the final of the World Cup in 1998. This is the first, and so far the only, time that the French soccer team, known as Les Bleus, won the tournament. The 1998 final was also the first time in two decades that the host nation won the World Cup.
