When Was The Stade De France Built?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The construction of the Stade de France began in 1995, but was completed in time for the country to host the World Cup three years later. The Stade de France is a football stadium in France. It is located in the suburb of Saint-Denis in France. Saint-Denis is an inner suburb of Paris, the capital of France.

The Stade de France was built for the 16th edition of the FIFA World Cup finals, which were held in France in 1998. It was the venue at which France achieved the biggest win of its soccer history, namely the 3-0 win over the then defending champions Brazil. This came in the final of the World Cup in 1998. This is the first, and so far the only, time that the French soccer team, known as Les Bleus, won the tournament. The 1998 final was also the first time in two decades that the host nation won the World Cup.
