My cat was tested a few months ago for leukemia and it was negative now there doing a 2nd test the Elisa do they take out a section of hair

One of our cats (who we got as a stray with no medical background) was tested today for feline leukemia virus. She had a patch on her neck shaved prior to the test and it looks like a row of several needles have been applied. She's shown no distress from it.
Keeping fingers crossed for the results later today.
