How To Factor (F^3 + 2f^2)(-f-2)?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

    (f3 + 2f2) (-f - 2)

    For factorizing it, let suppose,

    (f3 + 2f2) (-f - 2) = 0

    -f4 - 2f3 + 2f3 - 4f2 = 0

    -f4 - 4f2 = 0

    Multiply expression by negative sign on both sides,

    f4 + 4f2 = 0

    f2 (f4 + 2) = 0

    Now, f2 = 0

    f = 0

    f2 +2 = 0

    f = (- 2)1/2

    f = (- 2)1/2i

      The second factor is already pretty simple. The only way to make it simpler is to factor out the -1. -f-2=-(f+2).

      The first factor has a common factor of f2. So we get f3 + 2f2 = f2(f + 2).

      Putting it all together, we have two factors of f + 2. So the answer is

      -f2(f + 2)2
