Did Henry VIII Change The Catholic Church To Protestant?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Catholic church refused to annul Henry's marriage to Catherine of Aragon. So, Henry separated the Church of England from the Roman Catholic church, and he made himself head of the church of England. Henry VIII was originally Catholic, but when it came to money and divorce, he was Protestant. The Church of England was protestant. Hope that helped :)

No, it did not become fully protestant until Elizabeth I had to because the people did not want another even slightly catholic queen after Mary. Henry merely split his church from the pope.
