If you are accumulating large numbers of digital photo files on your machine then Google's Picasa is certainly worth downloading.
As you would expect from Google the programme downloads and installs faultlessly. When you first run the programme it will scan the system and upload all your picture files. These are displayed in sections under the original folder names. Thumbnails at a size of your choice allow you to view the images in the programme window.
Once the picture files are in Picasa you can perform photo editing if required. This is great for someone that has no photo editing software as it is of course completely free. Alright it isn't Photoshop but for the average user it will do all that is required.
Ordering prints is simplicity itself you simply select the image which drops into a picture tray which you check to hold there. You then click on order prints at the bottom of the screen and a list of service providers appears. Pick the one that you fancy and Picasa automatically uploads the files. You then select sizes and order in the normal way.
This programme makes emailing images extremely simple. Again you select and check the images that you wish to send and click on email. The programme then loads the compressed file sizes into a new message as attachments.
There are other features that I will let you discover for yourself but to sum up this programme is a great 'freeby' allowing you to organise and manage your images in a user friendly way.
Emphatically yes.. download it. I had only one rude awakening.
when you edit in picasa you do not edit the stored picture till you save it (save as). Also you can sort to your hearts content, but the files are not affected in My pictures so you have to work with both files. I love the program.
Agree with the above answers, it is one of the better picture editing programs I have ever worked with. Pics that I have already edited in another program can be made more detailed than I thought possible.
