How Do Puppies Get Parvo Virus?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Any dog can actually catch it, but it's more common in pup's due to their immune system's and they often haven't finished their vaccinations so don't have protection (it is a mistake to think of a pup as vaccinated because they had one or two set's). Some breed's are more prone to it like Rott's, Doby's and Pit's. It can come from anywhere as it's pretty much EVERYWHERE at this point. Dog's that have recently been vaccinated and survivor's can shed the disease but not be affected by it. Places where other dog's congregate are big 'no no's' for pup's or dog's with compromised immune system's, like petco and petsmart and dog parks ect. We can unknowingly track it from place to place and expose our (and other's) pup's. How often do most people disinfect the bottom's of their shoe's? Just because you don't see it or know you were around it doesn't mean it isn't there unfortunately.
