What Education Is Needed To Become A Shoe Designer?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Depends on how you want to start your career, i too really want to be a shoe designer but cant afford the course. If your looking for a long term course you usually need 4 gcse´s including english and maths ( all grade c or above) and 1 A level pass at grade c or above or a one year pass of a foundation in art and design plus 4 gcses again, preferred subjects for your gcse´s or A levels are art, textiles, Fashion and English plus an good portfolio there are other things though that can help toward getting in like if you´ve had a good job in a shoe store or industry experience or extra curricular activities or related work experience they take all these things into account... This is if you want to go about it by going to university but another i could imagine working is by somehow looking for a designer, famous or not and asking to be an apprentice? Actually being there watching them designing and making shoes i can imagine would be a far greater way of really getting the idea and experience! Good luck! Oh and another thing try a short course aswell they really give an idea of what it will be like and also thats taken into consideration as a plus! GOODLUCK!
