The Radio Corporation of America aka RCA was founded in 1901. It is currently part of the Sony BMG Music Company. It was part of the Victor Machine Company before BMG took over. It has three sub labels; RCA Victor deals with Broadway musicals, world music, blue music and jazz, RCA Records deals with pop, rock and country music and RCA Red Seal which is a prominent classical music label. Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony BMG reissues classic albums for RCA now.
RCA was taken over by General Electronics(GE) in1986. the company sold half its shares to its partner Bertelsmann which was later called BMG Music. The only RCA unit retained by GE was its broadcasting company.
