    Hi,
I had Lasik 3 weeks ago and love my newly restored vision.  You can find out if you are a good candidate easily.  Most Lasik clinics offer free extensive examinations and will tell you what type of surgery would work for you and how much it will cost.  I went to 3 clinics before deciding.  I am 52 and suffered from farsightedness and deteriorating distance vision too (nearsightedness).  I had monovision surgery so I don't need reading glasses (amen).  The distance vision isn't as clear as I had hoped.  I am experiencing some glare and blurring but test out as 20/20.  It is still early yet and the Dr. Thinks it will heal nicely and I will see quite well.  My son had Lasik to correct nearsightedness 2 days ago and he  is already seeing 20/15 with no glares or halos even in the dark. Perfect vision restored!  Go for it!

I had Lasik in 2000 and I was happy with it too. The "halos" they say could be a side effect, never happened. I am glad to hear no halos for your family. Although I am losing the effect of my vision correction. I'll be getting glasses until I reconsider getting Lasik again. Please drop me a line whether the guarantee says 'how long' the procedure is suppose to last.
