I'm An Illustrator. Do You Have Any Tips On How To Develop The Characters That I Draw?

Answer Question

To develop your characters, try basing a few of your drawings on real-life people. Try studying people's facial features and body language and this will help you when you come to draw your characters.

For practice with facial expressions, use a mirror and pull as many faces as you can. Sketch your face and then add these expressions to your own characters. Draw your characters from lots of different angles so that you get a feel of how your character will look from any viewpoint. It will also help you to keep your character looking consistent.

As well as facial expressions, perhaps you could act out some body movements to help you develop your character.

Have a look at how other illustrators have developed their work as this will help you to gain inspiration and make it easier for you to tackle your own characters.
