What Could Be The Factors That Would Predispose A Person For Sleep Paralysis?

Answer Question

Sleep paralysis is a mysterious condition. It describes a state in which the sleeper has the sensation of being paralysed and unable to move. Often, it occurs in the early hours of the morning just after the sleeper 'wakes up'. That is, he or she is fully aware but unable to wake his or her body in order to move. Sometimes, the state is accompanied by intense anxiety because the sleeper cannot make his body obey. While sleep paralysis is thought to occur after the sleeper is awake, it may have hallucinatory elements that make it appear like a dream. For this reason, many people remember it as a dream. For example, during sleep paralysis, a person might see his or her bedroom with great clarity. However, they might also imagine someone walking through the door. This coexistence of real and hallucinatory elements has a disorienting effect; the sleeper may not know whether or not he or she is awake.

Sleep paralysis is a mysterious condition and scientists are not sure what causes it. Some think that there are hereditary factors.
