A credit card is a plastic card used as a means of payment, up to your allowable credit limit.  Most have no interest if you repay the entire balance within the month's statement period, but once it goes beyond that the interest rates can be quite high.   Credit cards do have fraud protection which makes them useful for online transactions or at stores that might not protect your financial information.  A debit card usually does not offer such protection.   Credit cards are accepted around the world at many businesses, but not all.  Small businesses don't like accepting credit cards because it costs them a few percent of the bill.
