Basically, the Brown Bandicoot is a mammal which occurs naturally in Australia and has been there for centuries. Originally there were eight total species in the country. But now only the southern Brown Bandicoot is remaining and that also has become extinct. It occurs naturally in South Australia.

The Southern Brown Bandicoot has a threat of becoming extinct because of habitat loss and degradation. The areas where the bandicoots used to live have weeds and the plants on which they fed have numerous diseases. They also fall prey to foxes, snakes, birds, cats and dogs. Efforts of a large scale are made in Australia are being made to save the extinct specie of bandicoots.
