Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

HIV: HIV means Human Immunodeficiency Virus. This virus actually causes AIDS. The HIV virus leads to weakening of the immune system, which turns into AIDS when the immune system of the body is so damaged that there are less than 200 CD4+ cells.

As of now there are no vaccines or cure for the HIV virus. The only way you can prevent the virus affecting you is by avoiding exposure to it. Blood transfusion, unprotected sex, contact with vaginal fluid or semen of the infected person may also result in HIV infection, and therefore, it is advised that proper care be taken in situations that may lead to such interaction.

You can also find more information on the HIV virus by reading certain books like "Into the third decade of AIDS", "The Amfar AIDS hand book", and many more. You can also get information on HIV through the Internet.
