How Do I Replace A Fuel Pump On A 1991 Dodge Grand Caravan?

The first thing you need to do is to be sure that you have a bad fuel pump.  To do this you need to find and test the fuel pump relay. To test the relay it gets removed, then look under the reay you'll see numbers. Locate #87 and #30. Then use a fused jumper wire and connect the two ports that would receive the #87 and #30 pins on the relay housing.
   If the fuel pump is good this should cause the pump to run by itself. Have a friend listen at the gas filler tube for the sound. If the pump runs then i would think that you have a defective fuel pump relay which can easily be replaced. If the pump doesn't run during the above procedure then the best guess is that the pump itself is defective.
   You're going to need to drop the gas tank to replace the pump. But before you do there is one other check that needs to be done. If you can get to the top of the tank remove the wiring harness and try to hot wire the pump. Usually there are four wires going into the harness and best guess is the two outer leads carry the hot and ground wires. Most pumps will run in either direction so it shouldn't matter which you connect to the hot and ground.
   The late 80's and early 90's had grounding problems which could also be your problem.
   If none of the above works then you're going to have to drop the tank to make the repair. You could check first to see if there is an access panel in the floor board to remove the pump assembly, but i doubt it.
   I'm not sure about the caravan, but I'll guess that you'll need to buy the entire fuel pump assembly. I don't think you can buy just the fuel pump itself.
