Who Starred In Ally McBeal?

This 1998 American sitcom starred Callista Flockhart as Ally, a young lawyer in a thriving firm. Ally's love life takes precedence over her working life and usually impinges on it, with her ex-boyfriend (Gil Bellows) and his current wife working in the same company. Ally, who still dreams of getting back with Billy, is frequently upset by this set-up, but distracts herself with a series of romantic adventures, dreams of motherhood and erratic career moves.

Much of the action seems to take place in the unisex staff washroom. The series was memorable for its striking visual techniques. Ally's inner thoughts are sometime portrayed on screen with graphic simplicity; for instance, at the moment when she realises she is being dumped by her current boyfriend, she (and the audience) have a sudden vision of her being tipped out of a huge dustbin lorry onto a dump. Another time she sees herself and Billy reunited in a giant cup of latte.
