Besides solving many problems and issues in the United States, the Articles of Confederation (which was the first government system of the United States) had its own share of weaknesses, some attributes that the authors of the Articles of Confederation had apparently not contemplated upon.
These were inclusive of the weak nature of the Central government, which did not have an autonomy over the various state governments. The main idea behind the decision of not giving exclusive autonomy to the national government was the trepidation that the central government would abuse this privilege, a conjecture that was a result of the past behavior of the autocratic British government with the American colonists. As according to the Articles of Confederation, not only the United States did not have a president to rule it on a central basis but also it did not have courts to settled disputes or conflicts between states.

Do any historical documents exist that show the arguments both for and against a Constitutional Convention? Who decided that the Articles couldn't be amended and that a strong centeral government should erease state sovereignty? I can't seem to find much information about this period.
To of the many weaknesses of the articles of confederation were that it gave way to much power to the people and not enough to government and it could not regulate trade.
