The steps in turning on the DMA may apply to all kinds of burners, or may differ in varied extents. The DVD burner name needs to be known for exact instructions.

Anyway, here are the steps to turn on DMA on a Pioneer DVD burner. Firstly, open the Control Panel, the Hardware, and the Device Manager tabs. Then, double click on the IDE ATA / ATAPI Controllers to view the list containing all the controllers and channels. Then, right click on the icon of the channel to which the device is linked. Select the option 'Properties' and click on the Advanced Settings box.

Following that, got he option titled as Current Transfer Mode and in the drop down list, choose the option DMA. However, note that this facility will be accessible to you only if the present setting is PIO Only.
