Why Is The Earth Round Why Couldn't It Be A Square?

      Well, if you think about it, the earth is pretty irregularly-shaped, what with the mountains the the undersea trenches and all.  But the earth is round because under the crust is a liquid layer of magma.  When liquid gathers around a gravitational point, it always forms a perfect sphere.  It's impossible for the earth to be anything but round because of the physics of fluid dynamics.  But also, if the earth were a cube, it probably couldn't retain an atmosphere capable of sustaining life, at least not everywhere.
