    A symbolic language is a type of computer programming language which makes use of symbols or mnemonics to express functions. Every modern programming language is a symbolic language in nature. In basic words, symbolic languages are those which utilize and control symbols and other devices, rather than utilizing numeral characters.

    Symbolic languages are used extensively in the area of list processing. One cannot really understand symbolic language at face value, as there is really no system or rules that it is governed by. The only way of understanding such types of symbolic languages is to learn the programming language.

    There are many courses offered by a multitude of institutions for programming languages like Java etc. After learning the programming language one can obviously understand the language.
