How Should I Crate Train My 7week Old Bloodhound And Avoid The Whining?
Copper is a 7 week old bloodhound that was never put into a crate and as soon as I put him in his crate he starts whining bad. I've tried the ticking clock and putting a blanket over the sides of the crate and copper still whines and howles.

Give them treats everytime they go in there then after awhile they will get used to it.

Unfortunately you will not be able to avoid the whining. When I got my puppy, I bought a kennel that was way to big for him. I did this on purpose because I knew how big he was going to get. What I did was put a blanket in there, put him in there and shut the door, then walk away. He will whine, but as soon as he stops for more then like 1-2 minutes come back out so he can see you and praise him. He will soon get that it's ok to be in the crate and that you will always come back. Don't come out though if he is still whining. That will just tell him it's ok to whine and that whining will bring you to him.
