1st check your battery connections
2nd check your grounds ...a starter that is poorly grounded will click or do nothing...take a batter jump start cable and put one end on the starter and the other on the battery Ground

Husband says 'starter could be defective'. Return it or try another one. Loose wires could also be the problem so, you are not making a connection. Check for loose wires. Where did you get the starter from? Who placed it in the car for you?
