    Nat Turner was born on 2 October, 1800 in Southampton County, Virginia. He is considered as one of the 100 greatest African Americans ever. He was actually a born slave, however he was extremely intelligent and learned to read and write at a very early age.


    Nat Turner led a slave rebellion in Southampton County. This rebellion resulted in killing of 60 white civilians. He and his fellow slaves went from house to house and killed the white people and freed their slaves.


    Within 48 hours, his rebellion was suppressed. However, he was finally captured on October 30. He was tried and convicted in a few days and was hanged on November 11 in Courtland, Virginia.
