I'm only interested in famous historical events pre-1968 and only events which took place on exactly 22 April; i.e. Not any that took place over a period of time which included 22 April. Many thanks.

I went to history.com and it has a section to put in the day you are interested in. In 1889 Oklahoma land rush begins. In 1945 Hilter admits defeat. Look around on that site there could be more.
