You have to go click start-settings-control panel. Once you are in the control panel, double click on Add/Remove programs. To the left side, you will see "add/remove windows components." A "windows component wizard" opens with many options including "internet explorer." You need to place a check mark besides it and keep on hitting "next" following the instructions given. After that, do a system reboot, and you will see that Internet Explorer has been deleted.
If you have upgraded Internet Explorer from 6.0 to version 7.0, then you may find that it does not work like the way you want it to be, possibly due to inherent bugs in the system. In this scenario, you do not have to go to the "windows component" in the Add/ Remove programs. You can simply uninstall Internet Explorer 7.0 from the Add/ Remove panel, which takes you back to the 6.0 version.
