How To Breed Goldfish?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Make sure both male and female are the same types unless you want mix breeds. Have plenty of plants in the tank. Bump up the tank temps a degree or two, feed a meaty meal like brine shrimp and wait for the chasing to begin. They will not breed until they are ready and the females eggs must be ripe and ready for her to spawn before the mating begins. Once you see the chasing you will see the female dropping her eggs and the male will fertilize them. Many of these eggs will attach to the plants. If you want the eggs to hatch then you will need to keep the adults away from them. The parents and other fish in the tank will eat the eggs.
