What Is An Ingrown Nail?

An ingrown toenail is when your nail actually has grown into the skin of your toe. This can happen if when you trim your nails and there's a sharp edge and you're on your feet a lot.  If at all possible keep your nails trimmed to prevent this from happening.
Trim your toenails carefully after you take a shower or a bath. This will make them easier to trim because they are softer. If you are worried about infection use hydrogen peroxide. This will feel very cool to your skin and will bubble. The bubbling shows that it is taking care of any impurities that may be there. Peroxide should not hurt at all. You can pour it onto the affected toe(s) with a towel below your foot or you can use a cotton ball. Wet the cotton ball with the peroxide and then apply it to your toe.
If you continue to have a lot of pain and cannot trim the toenail like you normally would I would go see a doctor so that it doesn't grow any further into your toe.
