What Does Nittany Lions Mean?

Answer Question

LOL--well actually,a kind of joke it is---, "nitney" is not an actual word - it is a nonsense word meaning' foolish'  or 'daft'.  It is used to make fun of the Penn State team mascot--the  Nittany Lions.  Nittany is a geographic name in Pennsylvania - Mount Nittany or Nitanny Valley, for example.  Likely came from the Native American language.

No one even at Penn state knows the answer to that one. At least they're not telling anybody.

I would believe Amore001, she is a very intelligent woman, and knows a wealth of information.

It's a lion from Mount Nittany, in the area around Penn State. Nit-a-nee is an Indian word meaning divider, or single mountain.
