What Type Of Software Is Needed To Design Animations?

Answer Question

To design an animation as for my knowledge, there are two softwares which are Autodesk 3D Max and Maya. Autodesk 3D Max is a basic software for modelling and creating animation. Let's talk about 3D Max. In this software you can create basic models to human bodies and can even create bones for your human body can even make your character move like for example walking, running, sitting etc. You can activate the animation of the model by giving it a set key, which is done by an auto key option in the software. After clicking this button (auto key), you have to set key and timing of this character.

For example when a person walks, his one leg is in front and other leg is in the back which means what his right leg moves along with his left hand so we have to set the key in such a manner then and only then your character will move properly. Well in Maya, things are a little bit different. There are different keys in it, and the preview of an animation is clear. So these are the software which ever animator needs to design his animation.

Most commonly for traditional animation, a program called Harmony, made by Toon Boom Studios, is used. You can draw on animation paper, scan the drawings into the computer, and the program optically registers the drawing, adding digital transparencies to the negative areas of the drawing. You can separate the layers in space for a 3d effect. You can import Photoshop documents, .jpg images and is even computable with Maya, or so I've heard. Maya is commonly used for computer animation. You digitally sculpt 3d environments and characters, constantly using the arrow keys to change your perspective. You can texture map using any images off the web or even from your digital camera. I don't know how these programs rate against other animation programs. However I have successfully used both myself and they are user-friendly and available to the public. Also, another good program for prompt, web-friendly animations is Macromedia Flash 8.
