What Does 'The High Priestess' In Tarot Cards Mean?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The High Priestess, called Papess (La Papess) is 'The Priestess of the Silver Star'. If it is upright it would signify wisdom, intuition and secret knowledge. It stands for the feminine face of the male personality.  It could mean that there is something that remains which is yet to be revealed, although patience must be observed. It symbolises duality and mystery or the influence of women.  There could be concealed influences that affect home and work where intuitive insight offers new solutions.

On the other hand dignified or reversed it could refer to the absence of personal concord and problems that are caused due to a lack of foresight.  It is the inhibition of the feminine or intuitive aspect of the personality.  It could mean superficial knowledge or subjugation and ignorance of the true facts and feelings. Everything is not what it seems. In women, it could indicate a failure to come to terms with some other women or with themselves.

Its card number is two with a key number of thirteen. Rulership is the moon and it has the Hebrew letter Gimel. Its translation is camel with a numerical value of nine.
