Japan is located in East Asia. It is situated as an island on the Pacific ocean to the east of Sea of Japan, China, Korea and Russia. Towards the north it has Sea of Okhotsk and Taiwan to the South.
Japan is made up of over 3,000 islands and around 80% of the country is forested and mountainous. Thus it is not suitable for industrial or agricultural use. It has frequent volcanic activities and earthquakes. Japan has a temperate climate with cool summers and long and cold winters. There is not heavy Precipitation.
Japan has nine of the forest eco-regions which have a deep impact on the climate and geography of Japan.
