The Public School System Is Letting Me Down. What Can I Do?
I have a third grader and when he was in the 2nd I had him tested because he wasn't doing well in school. They did an IEP and my son needs special education. But only 1 hour a day and he's not getting it. What can I do

I am a sp.ed. Teacher. if something is in his IEP, and it's not being done, they are out of compliance with the law. ask for a copy of your state's procedural safeguards- they are supposed to give you one anyway. that should scare them into doing what his IEP says. if not, then contact people in this order, until you get results- your child's IEP case manager, your district's special ed. Director, then go to the state department of ed. your district is receiving money for your son based on what his IEP says, and they are basically stealing state funds if they are not providing the services promised in the IEP.

Contact the principal first then if you still do not get attention contact the superintendant...♥nassy
