I Live In The State Of Fl. What Is The Law About Eviction When Rent Is Paid? How Do I Get My Rent Back?
I have been living without a lease in Orlando, Fl and recently I was told by my roommate who is leasing the house we are sharing that I must vacate the premises immediately. I have already paid my rent for the month and prepaid for the month of January because he was short of cash last month. I have no problem leaving but I want my money back. What do I have to do?
Answers
There is no way your roommate can evict you after you have paid the rent for the next month. I hope you have the evidence of payment of the rent. Based on this evidence you can complain to the local police and if need be get a court order. The best thing would be to sort it out personally with your roommate first. Do tell him that he can not legally evict you as you have paid your dues.
