How does banking activities affect the economy?

Amongst the key aspects of the economy is the investment that takes place in an economy and how much saving is done. Both these aspects are in the hands of banks. If the interest rate would be higher the people would save and put it in banks to earn interest and if interest rate increases than investment would be encouraged. In this way economic issues like inflation and deflations are also addressed.
