Wallington is situated in London, England. It is approximately 10.3 miles south of Charring Cross. Wallington gets its name from the word Walestone which means 'village of the Britons'. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086). Wallington used to be the centre for lavender oil production earlier; this is commemorated by a sculpture of a lavender plant, Christmas lights in the shape of lavender plants, etc. In 1915 the Urban District Council came into existence. Both the Town Hall and the Library in Wallington were constructed in the 1930s and the architect of town hall was Robert Atkinson.
It also has a railway station. Beddington, Sutton, Carshalton, Mitcham, Croydon and Purley are nearby. It is home to The Wallington School for Girls, Wallington County Grammar School and Wilson's School. The closest professional football club to Wallington is Crystal Palace F.C. and the closest Football League club is Sutton United F.C.
