Are Social Security Disability And Child Support A Separate Payment From Social Security?

I am about to be approved by Social Security for me Disability (Been almost 3 years). I know that I will receive back pay from the time I filed, but I owe my ex-wife over $12,000 in back child support. Does this amount come out of the money I am going to receive or is it a separate payment from Social Security? Also, is my child support deducted from my monthly benefit, or is that a separate payment from them. PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS....Thanks a lot

Yes. But sometimes you can have the SSD payment the child receives either replace or offset the monthly obligation.  Often SSD is more than your obligation amount.  Just file a motion with the court, it's easy and simple to get a judge to sign an order to offset your support obligation.
