There are a number of ways in which fleas can be controlled. Several products are available commercially that deal with fleas but contacting your vet and following a prescribed flea removal program is always far more beneficial. Products available include shampoos and dips, flea collars, flea powders and sprays, spot-on treatments, oral medication etc. Most of these deal with the flea problem at the adult stage while a few of these even inhibit the fleas from hatching or affect the larvae as well. Oral medications and spot-on treatments are very beneficial in affecting the fleas in other stages of its life cycle. Flea dips are extremely powerful and affects ticks and mites as well. It is important to note that all these substances contain chemicals, the overuse of which may affect the health of your pet as well.

There are several options for controlling fleas in dogs.

Chemical preparations are available from your veterinarian, pet shops, and discount stores. These range from shampoos, sprays, collars, dips, spot treatments, oral medications, and more. When using a chemical to treat fleas, it is important to follow directions exactly because some products can cause serious health problems (or even death) if used incorrectly or in conjunction with other products that they were not designed to be used with.

Natural products are also available to treat fleas in dogs. Oral supplements such as brewers yeast and garlic can help control fleas. Natural insecticides are also available and may be safer than chemical alternatives, and are often included in such products as dips and shampoos. Some scents also work to repel fleas, and can be applied by mixing essential oils with water and spraying them on the coat.

Before deciding which path to take, do your research and weigh your options carefully.

Natural remedies are not as effective as the chemicals. You must maintain flea control year round. If you have fleas, you have parasites. No if's ands or butts. Some that are zoonotic(transferable to humans). One that small children can get, where it lays it's eggs in the eye. It is actually the 3rd leading cause of blindness in children.FLEA CONTROL!!!!!!!!!

Fleas WILL NOT cross or live around sulfur! So if it's a yard dog build a pen and super treat the floor with sulfur, and put it in lock down for hours and the fleas will disappear, but will come back, when you let them out!

OH YA! Borax dries up fleas eggs so they want hatch out!

Try going to the pet store and looking for a FLEA COLLAR. It will keep most fleas of your dog(s)
