The story of the novel is loosely based on O'Reilly's own life. His relationship with the CBS television was not cordial. He and the network staff at CBS had a series of disputes, especially involving the footage of the Falkland Islands War.
he antagonist of the novel is a journalist named Shannon Michaels who believes that the network staff is trying to sabotage his career and takes revenge on them following a series of arguments.
