What Are The Effects Of Forest Fires?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Forest also help to prevent soil erosion. When there are heavy downpours or strong winds, the roots of the plants hold soil down so that it is not so easily washed or blown away. This way, the nutrients in the soil are not lost and new plants can still grow. Animals living on the trees or in the soil are also protected from losing their homes.

The forest play an important part in the hydrologic  cycle (or water cycle). They regulate  the amount of water released into the atmosphere, affecting cloud formation and thus, the amount of rainfall. The amount of rainfall directly affects the supply of water to plants and animals.
