How Do I Remove A Rear Brake Drum From A 2002 Ford Focus?

Answer Question

1st you have to loosen the adjuster for the parking brake, you can do this through the adjuster port in the rear of the backing plate. Then you need to brake the rust from the hub, this can be done with a hammer, by tapping on the hub you can also use something called "PB Blaster" it;s a penetrant  if that doesn't do it you'll need a oxy/acetylene torch to heat up the hub and then hit it with a hammer to loosen it up

U can hit it with a hammer to break it free. Or u can remove the center cap and retaining nut using a 30mm socket and remove the whole hub assy

Some of these hubs are in one peice so u will need to remove the center cap and nut.I done it at work today. Most likely the shoes are worn enough to slide the drum of over.
