    How To Use Tip-ups?

Tip-ups are an effective way to ice fish. If the angler rigs the tip-ups properly, he can catch a wide variety of fish. There are specially coated lines available in the market for tip-ups. A braided line can also be used. The approximate weight of the test line should be between thirty and forty pounds.

For some species of game fish, such as the Walleye, a mono leader is used. For the best results, it is suggested that a small barrel swivel be attached to the braided main line and a test line which is about three feet long and weighs about eight pounds should be used. The test line should either be clear or clear green in colour. Anglers also use weights and must set the depth before determining the location of the tip-up.
