Ascriptin.  This form of aspirin contains maalox, which helps to coat the stomach lining, and prevent irritation associated with aspirin products.  Long term use of aspirin, may also cause complications with normal clotting of blood.  So, stop  all aspirin products before any surgery. Hope your pet is ok, and does not have to have surgery for the kneecap! Wishing you the best.
Your vet will probably want to prescribe Rimadyl for a prescription pain reliever once your pet has been seen.

After my black lab had surgery, I was told I could give her low dose Enteric aspirin. It is the 81 mg aspirin that a lot of people take daily and it is coated to make it easier on the stomach. I think it was 1 tablet every 6-8 hours. And she weighed around 60 pounds. I hope he feels better soon.

To Celticgirl - I didn't mean to give you a bad rating, I was reading your answer and my hand slipped. I'm new to site, if I can retract it, I will. I apologize.
