    It is my opinion that it is called "the great american race" for one reason:  We race american cars...ie: Plymouth, dodge, ford, chrysler, buick, chevy & the like.....♥nassy  [rate answer please]

    I do agree for the most part but the term American, you could look at it like people that live in America come from all over the world so why not let car from all over the world race Nascar. It may be an interesting challenge don't you think.

      Any car that meets the criteria to enter a nascar race should have the opportunity to race otherwise it becomes a hobby for the elite. Nascar is in my opinion a retarded event. I'm not even classifying it as a sport. More boring than golf to me.

        Toyotas are Japanese made cars and they should not be allowed into the Nascar race, because that is a race solely for American cars. Toyotas are not American, and also, their cars are not fit to race.
