Inoculation is a method where any kind of substance or vaccine is put into the body in order to create resistance to a particular disease. It is on purpose injected into a person who has smallpox, so that the severity is minimized to a certain level. Today however these terms like inoculation, vaccination and immunisation are referred to as artificial induction of immunity. The particular micro-organism that is used is known or is even called as inoculant or inoculum.

On the other hand it is also considered to be an advertising tactic wherein one group attempts to predict and counteract potentially negative disparagement from another group by being the first in order to face up to bothersome issues.
