Indira Gandhi who served three terms as India’s prime minister of India between 1966 and 1977 and again between 1980 and 1984. She attended Vishwa Bharati University at West Bengal and Somerville College, Oxford University. In 1959 -60 Indira Gandhi became the president of Indian national Congress but yet she did not contest an election in 1962. She was the prime minister from January 19, 1966 to March 24, 1977 and again came to power on January 14, 1980 and lasted out until her assassination. She was the daughter first prime minister and mother of another Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was a prominent political leader. She had thus been in power for about fifteen years. She influenced Indians from ordinary people to all bureaucrats and proved a stronger Indian political personality.
