Has Anyone Gotten Trigger Finger After Carpal Tunnel Surgery?
I had carpal tunnel surgery 3 years ago, about six months after surgery my trigger fingers in both thumbs started. I believe this was a side effect of the operation or my surgery was done incorrectly. I have not found answers to this anywhere including my doctor, it is just strange that I did not have this problem until my carpal tunnel surgery.

No, it's not the side effect of your operation. You're thinking wrong about it. In fact, you just have developed a psychological association with it that you've got it because of your surgery. It has some other reason.

Hi Tunnel,
Have you sen the doctor who performed your surgery? Have you had an EMG test done? What is the doctor doing to find out about this condition?
Please let me know what you find out.
Merry Christmas!!

YES, I've been wondering the same thing, I had surgery 1 year ago and having more problems with trigger finger now that I never had before. The surgery done away with the tingling and numbness but now I have more problems with strength, grip, trigger finger that I didn't have before. I wonder too is this is a blotched up job from the surgery, wonder if this is going to be this way from now on, not getting better. Went through therapy and lost over 50% of grip and strength since surgery, wake up with hands curved and stiff, scary!

Yes I had the surgery on the right wrist on 3/26/08 and now in the am my hand feels really weak and painful, and my thumb does the snap, crackle and pop at both joints......Has anyone found out anything yet? I am an RN and was ok to go back to work after 5 weeks, so maybe I could have gone back too early? My doctor told me postal workers are out for 8 weeks................There was no way I could do this cause there are only two of us in the department for the whole hospital that do the radiology nursing to include the insertion of PICC lines too......so I needed to get back......haven't gone back to see my surgeon since this happened cause I don't want anymore operations in my lifetime.......I'll deal with things as they come, can't be here forever.......LOL

I also had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands within one month of each other and within 3 weeks, had trigger finger on the right hand (3 fingers) and trigger finger on the left hand (2 fingers so far). The doctor says its related to my pregnancy, but I find it odd that it occurred so close following the surgery. I had no symptoms of trigger finger up until this point in my pregnancy and I'm at 8 months. Did you find out if trigger finger was related to your surgery? It's important that I find out since the carpal tunnel was a direct result of an auto accident and insurance is paying for that. Help.....
