Can You Give Any Hints For Rectifying Problem Replying To Emails In Outlook Express?

I am on wi-fi with a neighbour. Virgin.net is ISP and we both have virgin email accounts. Has been working perfectly for more than 3 years then two weeks ago I found i could not reply to emails. Keep getting error messages relating to the server. Everything else still works and can reply to emails through dial-up and webmail just not through either Outlook Express or other email programme Pegasus. Virgin won't accept it is a server problem and just say use dial-up or stop using wi fi. But why would it suddenly stop?

    Hi,

It could be a problem with your Outlook locally installed on your PC.
You can try uninstalling and installing a new copy of MS Outlook.

You can also try deleting and re-creating your E-Mail account on Outlook. Your wifi account is probably  causing conflict with your existing Outlook E-mail account.

There is a slight possibility that your wifi connection is not strong-enough. Try setting up Wifi account again or go nearer to the wifi transmitter (if you know where it is located).

    Hope it helps?

    Hi NSK,

uninstalled Outlook Express and installed WIndows Live Mail but problem continues. Will try disconnecting from wifi and setting it up again. it is not a problem of a weak connection - the router is in the room above in a neighbours flat and connection is very strong... I am bemused and frustrated. You thoughts most welcom. Thank you

Have discovered the answer... Nothing to do with my email account and everything to do with Virgin ISP who is changing its server...

trawled through google and found someone also with a wifi set up through a D Link router with the same problem.  Nothing to do with the router but to do with Tiscali changing its server and not knowing the impact.

The way Virigin's new server was repackaging the emails meant that my replies were not getting through because the MTU on my PC was too high.  As advised I reduced it to 1400 through TCPOptimiser and problem solved.

      Such a relief.
